To give a little background as to where the 2K franchise stands with the Post Game Report, I gave last year’s title a B, which was a solid grade considering just how far the series needed to come following the troubling days of MLB 2K9. all three games have been in pitcher friendly confines so far, so the occasional long fly-ball ends up being a lazy out near the warning track, instead of being "crushed" into center or something like that.Pitchers and catchers do not report for spring training for another six days, but the Post Game Report’s baseball season started last week with a hands-on demo of MLB 2K12. It will be interesting to see how I will fare in a true hitter's park. I try to really mix up my pitches and locations, using the low corners and the tight inside portions of the plate, my biggest focus is getting my control maxed out for all my pitches, hitting where their stat-data shows "red" for all the hitters. so that is now what I am focusing on, knowing that is how the AI runs the insertion of relievers. in 2 of the games I only had 2 strike outs, but in my 3rd I had 8SOs with sitting 9 straight - but I was still pulled once I reached 65 pitches or so. Secondly, the call-up goals seemed quite arbitrary with what was giving as my goals, it would have been more realistic to send me in at the big leagues as a middle reliever for the first year like was done to many "naturals" like Koufax or DrysdaleĪs a result of my strict pitch-count limit, it really does not seem to take into account the situation very well. 256BA (felt like Oral Hershiser lol)).Ī few observations here about 2k12: My gut tells me they should be inserting me in as a middle-reliever to season me, but so far, the AI keeps me starting with a very strict pitch-count as a limit - idk if this is normal for this title, but if I were on the development team, I'd be tweaking this a bit.
Now with the Dodgers, I fill the 5th rotation spot, made my first start against the despised LA Angles of Anaheim (Luckily in Dodger stadium) and I am currently facing my 4th start (3GS, 0W 0L. 82WHIP, 53 SO) and was called up to the big leagues. While at Albuquerque, I pitched like Sandy Koufax (47.1IP, 4W 1L, 1.14ERA. I was sent back down to AA for 5 games and then called up to AAA "Isotopes" team (Which is fun in real life to watch in Arizona) for 7 games. I'm in my second year currently, and I was invited to the "Practice Squad" for Spring Training (I assume this is the Minor-League side of MLB12k) but it was weird, because starters were plating with me. 96 WHIP, 93SO) during which I focused on all the call-up goals and adding a fourth pitch: The Cutter. I started out in AA for the Dodger organization, and started 17 games (104IP, 6w 3L, 1.86 ERA. My first year, I began with: Fastball, Splitter and 2-seam Fastball.
This year, I made a left-handed starter with Tom Seaver mechanics and designated him a "strike-out" pitcher. Oh yes, Can you get sent back down to the minors, is it possible (This is a question, my mark is broken)
I am not sure though if there is a Upgrade in your fielding speed though because that is something that could be used to fix this. It is almost impossible to get to the bag before the Runner. He will be A Innings-Eater and a Starter.Īlso, I do find that the pitcher takes WAY to long to get to First Base. My Next Pitcher is gonna be a Fastball and Knuckler combo. I hope to get the ROTY award seems it is actually only June, so I might get the award. He has an ERA about 2.50 which is pretty good. I expect Next season I will become the Closer. My guy though is being used as a Set-Up Man and a Middle Releiver. It catches hitters of guard because there is no control over it. It is only rated 52 OVR and it causes it to break up and down sometimes. He uses his fastball, sinker and 2-seam FB for the first 2 strikes and then my Strikeout pitch is the Slider or 12-6 Curve. Its his third year and he is only rated 64 OVR. My Closer is finally in the Majors with the Red Sox.
